Post 6 Baseball gets close win, $10,000 check on Sunday
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne Sixers returned to the Capital City for a game on Sunday, and brought a surprise with them to Powers Field. After warmups and the lineup announcement, Post 6 Legion Commander Ricky Ramos got to throw out the first pitch. Following that, he presented the team with a check for $10,000.
“That’s gonna go towards what these young men need to get this thing going, keep these fields up, and their equipment, their travel. I’m glad we can support that. It comes rom the money we raise with the American Legion,” said Commander Ramos.
The Sixers game kicked up after that, where they took on the Post 22 Hardhats. The Rapid City club got to the scoreboard first, driving one in to close the top of the first inning. Cheyenne answered back with a pair of runs in the second, before turning up the heat in the second. Another five Sixers touched home plate between those three out, which gave them cushion to avoid a late surge by Post 22. Cheyenne won 9-6, and bumped their record this season to 12-2.
