Prep Athlete of the Week: Logan Custis, Central
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The third ranked Indians soccer team has been on a tear this year, and junior forward Logan Custis is a massive part of that equation.
His scoring tear continued last week, and he was crucial in Central’s victories over crosstown rivals South and East. The latter contest went down to the wire, and he said that those types of games mean just a little bit more.
It’s always fun. [It’s a] trophy game, so it’s always a very, very hard game. The anticipation up to the game is very hard as well, and we practice very hard for that game. It’s just everyone played their hardest and it was a good game,” Custis said.
He netted three goals in the team’s first two contests of the week; two came in their 3-0 victory over the Bison, and against the T-Birds he drew and scored a massive second half equalizing penalty kick that set them up to win 2-1 in overtime. Those scores helped him maintain his 4A-leading total of 17 goals.
While Custis has been a key contributor, he credits his teammates for keeping spirits high and pushing Central towards their ultimate goal.
“Just being with our team and having teammates that bring each other up and teammates that wanted each other to work harder. We all want the same goal, to be state champions one of these days,” Custis said.
Congratulations to Logan Custis on his impressive performances.
