CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
Thursday marked the 2nd day of the Wyoming High School Art Symposium at the Ford Wyoming Center, it’s the biggest and only one in the state that showcases art from high school students.
“ We get to see just the variety of work that is happening and the talent is mind blowing. The first i came here i was floored by the quality of the work and I think it actually kind of generates that year after year when the students are able to come and see work from across the state it inspires them to go back and push their work to new levels. "
As president of the association and an art teacher herself, Shannon feels that keeping the event going year after year connects the event to the community and the teachers.
“ It’s the 55th year of this so its really kind of runs itself in some regard, but stepping up and being a part of this it just connects me more to the community at large. Like the larger Wyoming community and my peers and teachers, its a great support network. "
For the teachers, the event is a great way of celebrating their students for their hard work and letting others see their art.
“ This is huge for us its our culminating event and that’s nothing we take lightly, we work towards it the entire school year I’m fortunate enough to have students with me for 4 years. "
The attention to detail and execution in some of the art work is something to behold, even having the teachers amazed at their students art work.
They never fail to blow my mind how an 18 year old can be so advanced in their conceptual thinking and their technical ability at the same time is truly something to behold.
