CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - East junior Gracie Oswald absolutely raked last week for the top ranked Lady T-Birds softball team.

She helped them win four of their six games in that span-- including a doubleheader sweep over number two Thunder Basin. After a stellar showing at the plate, she said that one of the biggest keys for her while hitting is simply staying relaxed.

”I’ve been really trying to focus on pitch selection, and just trying to be calm when I get up there. Because when you’re kind of shaky and not really believing in yourself, it’s hard to get those big RBIs and those big hits,” Oswald said.

She certainly found a lot of both this past week; she reached base in 16 of her 24 plate appearances-- including 13-21 hitting. Five of her knocks were for extra bases: three doubles, a triple and a homer, and she drove in a total of 13 runs.

Oswald has been with the team since the first season of high school softball; she’s seen the growth of the Lady T-Birds, and she relishes the chance to now get every opposing team’s best shot.

”It honestly feels really great to be the number one team. I know last year we didn’t even make it to states and the year before that we were pretty good, but just knowing that people are coming for us gives us more confidence I guess. To keep that going, we have to... keep improving. We can’t be satisfied with where we are now,” Oswald said.

Congratulations to Gracie Oswald on her fantastic performances.
