The Lady Bearcats Upset Buffalo in Penalties, the Boys Team Find Their First Win of the Season
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - High school soccer is in full swing, as there was action all around the state. The Bearcats were back in action on Friday, with a slate of tough opponents in Buffalo.
The lady Bison came into the game ranked #3 in the state, and Douglas had the chance to take them down and cause a shake up in the standings. Going into the second half, the Lady Bearcats led by 2, but Buffalo would start to turn it around in the second half. A free kick alongside a shot from inside the 18 tied up the game at 2, and this one needed to go into penalties to declare a winner. After trading back and forth and penalties tied at 6, Avynn Yost went up for Douglas and she delivered the goal in the lower left corner to give them the lead. Buffalo needed to make their next one to keep the game going, but Peyton Yost denied them the opportunity, as Douglas upset Buffalo winning 7-6 in penalties.
The Douglas boys team hasn’t found a win yet this season, as they look for their first one against Buffalo. The Bearcats got on the attack early on, and Jackson Hughes found himself with a free kick opportunity. He sent a screamer across the ground and scored to give Douglas the 1-0 lead. Buffalo got the wake up call they needed, and answered back very quickly, as they scored a volley to tie the game at one. Eventually, Douglas would find the back of the net for the second time, and that was all she wrote as the Bearcats win their first game of the season 2-1.
