CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Mother nature hasn’t been too kind to the start of the high school soccer season, with a couple of games getting postponed due to the conditions. However, Douglas managed to brave the conditions and get their soccer season started against Rawlins.

The boys hosted the Outlaws, and they controlled the ball early on. They had several chances at the net, but couldn’t finish any attempts, whether the shots were just too wide or they met the gloves of Jose Morales. Despite not having control of the ball for much of the first half, Rawlins capitalized on one of their few opportunities. Salva De La Puerta managed to get a shot off and after it was deflected off of a Douglas defender, he scored the first of the game. The Outlaws would find the back of the net again in the second half, spoiling the Bearcats home opener 2-0.

The Lady Bearcats had a much different result. Right from the get-go, they supplied all the offense you could ask for in the first half, putting up three goals. When the second half kicked off, they were still on the attack. Macey Engle scored not once but twice in the second half, piling up Douglas’ lead and pulling away from the Lady Outlaws. Their defense was also on point, as they didn’t allow many chances for Rawlins to score, and that resulted in them putting up a shutout. Douglas’ girls team won their home opener 5-0.
