The Riverton Lady Wolverines Net a Free Kick to Take Down the Fillies, While the Mustangs Score a Free Kick to Get the Win over the Wolverines

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Riverton has back to back road games in Casper, and on the first day they take on Natrona.

The Natrona County Fillies have been undefeated after three games so far this season, their last win came from beating cross town rival Kelly Walsh. Coming into this one they’re ranked #2 in 4A, but the Lady Wolverines wanted to make a statement in this one. After a scoreless first half, both teams played some sound defense. At the start of the second, Cami Paskett took a free kick from way out and delivered a beautiful strike to put them up 1-0. The Fillies weren’t able to score off of their chances for the rest of the game, thanks to Ayana Mejorado’s goalkeeping, and the Lady Wolverines came away with the win and the upset.

Riverton’s boys team had a chance to complete the sweep against Natrona, and it was a heavily defensive game early on. Neither team was able to put the ball in the back of the net, and that led to a scoreless first half. This game nearly went the distance without a goal, but a goal finally happened with nearly five minutes left to play as Natrona would score on a free kick opportunity. Without much time left, the Wolverines weren’t able to find a goal, and the Mustangs would defend their home turf with a 1-0 victory.
