CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - This year marks the 50th anniversary of thanking military members and bosses for their service.

On Thursday, a group of bosses got a great big thank you, the National Guard and Reserve Member Employees sponsored their bosses for a “Boss Lift.”

”If we didn’t have the support of civilian employers our service members wouldn’t be able to go and protect our country. So we want to educate employers and tell them how much we appreciate them and that they are also patriots,” said Kathy Wright, State Chair for Employer Support of the Wyoming National Guard & Reserve.

Service members got a chance to thank their bosses for being so supportive of the time thneededeed to serve their commitment.

“Sometimes there’s tension in the workplace because service members need time off to do their duty or training. When employers have the opportunity to learn more about what their service members do and how important they are to our national defense, I think the service members really appreciate the opportunity to nominate their bosses as a way of thanking them,” said Wright.

These bosses were treated with a tour and lived a “day in the life” of a service member, complete with a free lunch and a joyride.

”We are taking employers... We gave them some information briefs this morning, were taking them on a C-130 ride and then they are going to get a tour of the facility and eat an MRE for lunch,” said Wright.

And the bosses couldn’t be more pleased.

”You cant be anything but proud and you know my service people are really fantastic people so you know anything we can do of course to assist me as a supervisor even to assist them i will certainly be more than happy to do,” said Naomi Mitchell, Human Resources Officer.
