CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - This morning looked pretty ominous for us here in Cheyenne as a very thick fog settled in for our morning and had a chance to leave a glaze of ice on roads and sidewalks around the area. Luckily that fog has left us and didn’t leave any ice behind.

On to tonight, we can expect some cold temperatures around the area as we stick in the 20s near Cheyenne, teens for Casper, and single digits for Riverton. Winter is sticking around and keeping our temperatures well below average for March. Luckily we will see an end to winter very soon but it has another surprise in store for us.

That surprise will impact today and Friday but in between, we’ll have a warmer day on the way for our Thursday with temperatures in the mid to upper 30s near Cheyenne and mid 20s around Riverton. Not quite spring temperatures but definitely warmer than what we’ve got today.

The surprise winter has for us is one last round of snow for our area. The snow chance started around 11:00 AM and while most places haven’t seen any snow yet, the atmosphere is still favorable for snow and will continue to be into tomorrow so a couple flurries could come down through the day and especially into tonight. Not a lot of snow is expected with only a dusting to an inch in most areas but the higher elevations could see a bit more.

That snow chance will end tomorrow morning as the snow moves out of our area and is replaced by wind and clouds. A cloudy and windy day can be expected tomorrow before it blows the last round of snow for a couple days at least through our area on Friday. Again, we aren’t expecting a lot of snow with Friday’s Flurries but we could get a dusting of snow here and there.

Wrapping things up with our extended forecast, warmer temperatures are on the way and they keep getting closer and closer. Plenty of sun too so spring is finally arriving and better late than never. A nice weekend in store for Cheyenne and bit colder but still nice for the Casper area as well. Next week has a bit of a cool down at the tail end of the week but it shouldn’t last long. Both Cheyenne and Casper could see a few flurries at the end of next week but not too much and the forecast could change as those days are pretty far out. Overall though, it’s finally becoming spring here in the Cowboy State and I know I’m ready for it. Let’s enjoy these warmer temperatures and let’s stay safe Wyoming.
