Warmer Temperatures on the Way
A Weekend Warmup in Store
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - We’ve got a nice warming trend on the way and a nice weekend ahead but first let’s look at how much snow we got from this last storm.
In Cheyenne we didn’t get too much, about 1.2″ outside the door here at KGWN. The snow was blown around by the wind all day yesterday so there will be more snow in some areas than others thanks to the wind piling it up. However, most of our snow fell up north in Casper and Cody. Casper got 7 inches according to official NWS reports and Cody was reported to get 9 inches. Again, the wind was blowing the snow in those areas as well so it may seem like one part of town got more than the other. Either way, that snow should melt relatively quickly as we have plenty of sun and warmer temperatures on the way which is good news for our travel around the area.

Tonight’s lows will certainly not help in clearing the snow as it will be very chilly tonight, especially in the western parts of Wyoming with places such as Jackson, Riverton, and Worland all below zero tonight. Wind in the area could drive wind chills even lower so be prepared for a very frigid night here tonight. Winter is not over yet and it shows.

However good news is coming tomorrow as temperatures once again reach the 40s in Cheyenne and the surrounding area and it will once again warm the entire state. Some places won’t get much of a warm up but overall warmer temperatures will be here to stay for the next couple of days starting with tomorrow. Another piece of good news is the sun will stick around throughout the weekend as well helping to melt snow on the roads and give us a nice weekend ahead

Rounding things out with our extended forecasts, we do have a small cool down on Sunday but overall a warm couple days ahead of us in Cheyenne with plenty of sun but on Wednesday, that all changes with a big cool down into the teens and a chance of snow yet again. Just when it feels like spring has sprung, winter comes right back to remind us its still February. For Casper, things don’t get as warm but the same trend is in store as things will warm up, cool a bit on Sunday, then stay warmer until Wednesday with a big cool off and a chance of snow. Just like last week however, after the snow, we’ll begin to warm up after the snow passes in both Cheyenne and Casper. We’ll keep an eye on that snow chance as the week goes on as the forecast may change. Stay warm, stay safe, and let’s enjoy this nice warm weekend ahead.
