CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Today’s going to be a very warm day, especially for February. Highs in the Cheyenne area are going to reach the mid 50s with some areas even getting near 60. Unfortunately that will not stick with us and colder temperatures are on the way. Starting with tonight’s lows, temperatures are going back below freezing for most of the area and single digits will be around for some places.

Tomorrow’s highs look quite a bit like tonight’s lows and that’s thanks to cold air coming in from the north continuing to cool us down through the day. Wind through the day will make things feel pretty chilly so we can’t put the coats away just yet. Winter is still here and will definitely make itself known.

Looking at the overview we can see a large pool of cold air coming down from the north and that will move through the area on Wednesday which is why our temperatures will be so cold.

That cold arctic air is also bringing in snow to the area. For most places the snow will be scattered so accumulation should be limited in most areas. In Cheyenne, the snow arrives later on Wednesday morning and will be a bit more concentrated but accumulation should still be limited. The snow should also move out of the area pretty quickly and will be replaced with plenty of sun so the snow should melt off quickly into Thursday and travel impacts should be limited. Snow can be unpredictable at times however so stay up to date with this snow.

Finally taking a look at our extended forecasts, a nice warm Monday today with a big drop in temperatures coming on Wednesday and that chance of snow. Next weekend will be warm again however. Not quite into the 50s but warm and sunny. For Casper though, it’s a bit different. Not as warm like usual but the snow chance is much higher for Tuesday and Wednesday and the wind will stick around all weekend long. However, the same trend of a cooldown into Wednesday and a warmer weekend holds true.
