CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - This past weekend marked the beginning of conference play in Wyoming High School Basketball. With things getting started again, Kelly Walsh hosted Riverton on Saturday in some 4A competition.

Both Riverton and Kelly Walsh’s girl’s teams lost their opening conference games, and only one of them would go on to pick up their first win. The first half of the game saw the Trojans dominate Riverton, as they were up 26-11 heading into the half. This trend would continue into the second half of the game, as Kelly Walsh would earn their first conference win as well as snap their 6 game losing streak, the final score 51-28.

The boys game would take a different direction, as it was much closer to start. Ranked #3 Riverton would find themselves down by 3 heading into the half, but that didn’t deter the Wolverines from finishing this game. In a back and forth contest, where no team could one up the other for the majority of the second half, it was Parker Paxton for the Wolverines who hit a clutch late game 3 for the go ahead bucket to put Riverton up by 5 with 2 minutes and 30 seconds left. Riverton would close out their weekend going 2-0 in conference play with the final score of this game 60-55.
