CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - This week’s upcoming weather event has many folks thinking about what they need to do to stay safe or alive.

This sharp temperature drop is predicted for late afternoon on Wednesday into Thursday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) advises covering your skin when exposed to these extreme temperatures.

Frostbite can happen in as little as 5 minutes.

NWS says to only go out if you have to and put your car in the garage or plug it in if you can.

Also, meteorologists say to bring in your pup and provide shelter to livestock as much as possible.

“Its going to be a really dramatic event. In fact, temperatures within the course of an hour may drop as much as 30 degrees in 1 hour behind this cold front.” said Michael Charnick, Meteorologist at NWS.

Our weather team, Carl Rippy and Austin Fieg will keep you posted on this weather event and more throughout the week.
