East Boys Basketball has their sights set on returning to-- and winning-- the 4A Championship
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The East Boys Basketball team was force all of last year, and they have legitimate championship aspirations coming into this season. They have a big senior class that’s shown strong leadership, and their coach is happy with how they’ve attacked the offseason.
“This senior class that we have now has really really good leadership skills. With them being in different sports, having to lead in different sports, and doing so well in different sports, it just carries over to basketball. And they did a lot of stuff this summer and did a great job of leading in the gyms and doing everything that we do,” head coach Rusty Horsley said.
The team is also bringing back the majority of their varsity players from last season. They have eight players that are returning from the 2021-2022 squad, which shows that they have plenty of room to build off an already impressive 22-6 showing.
Most importantly though, they want to avenge their loss in the 4A state championship and go all the way this time around.
“Personally, I’m really motivated. I couldn’t stand [losing the championship]. It about drove me nuts, it still drives me nuts every day that we lost that. I think everybody’s more than ready to get after it. I don’t see us losing too much this year,” senior Kysar Jolley said.
The Thunderbirds begin their season on Dec. 8.
