CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -For nearly two years, Natrona County Commissioners have been working towards new zoning regulations. Why are new resolutions needed? And how can residents have a say in the process?

As Commissioner Dave North explains, “I had one person tell us that we had more zoning restrictions than Teton County. Which actually really surprised me. But I knew that it was one of those situations that we needed to go back and correct that.”

This here is the most recent zoning resolution that Natrona County has written. And it was created back in the year 200... all 257 pages of it. And it’s this that the current Board of Commissioners is looking to trim down. So, the Board of Commissioners hired a Colorado company called Logan Simpson tom come up, do some research, and make some zoning suggestions. The results?

“There’s a lot of people that didn’t know what was going on. And then when they did see what was being presented, they weren’t real happy with it. Including the Commissioners. There’s a lot of stuff in there that we don’t like.”

Commissioner North that a lot of the changes suggested by Logan Simpson go too far.

“There’s a lot of government overreach in this. And... that needs to come out. We’re Natrona County. We’re in Wyoming. We are not on the front range of Colorado. And we’re not in California. And we don’t want to be.”

North says those who would like to make their voices heard can go to the county website, pull up the current draft, and add their own comments. The link to that web page is here: https://plan.konveio.com/natrona-next-bocc-working-draft-zoning-resolution
