Warm-up Steadies Into The Week
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Sunday marked the start of a consistent weather pattern that will persist until midweek. Average seasonal temperatures, partly cloudy skies and breezy winds in southeast Wyoming will eliminate any guessing of what will be the forecast. The Capital City saw some snow melt off in the afternoon with mostly sunny skies reaching a high temperature of 48F. Cheyenne and the eastern half of the state will continue to see some melt off the next few days. Be cautious of icy roads that may refreeze.
Breezy winds are going to remain relatively tame the next few days in southeast Wyoming. Wind speeds will reach in the mid 20 mph range in Rawlins, Casper, Douglas and Laramie Monday. Elk Mountain can exceed that threshold surpassing 30 mph due to the elevation and terrain. Winds will increase overnight Tuesday morning in Cheyenne up to the mid 30 mph range briefly before the afternoon breeze picks-up again to the mid 20 mph range in the southeast.
Wednesday will bring the next weather event. Early Wednesday morning a line of snow showers will enter from the northwest part of Wyoming. Yellowstone, Teton and Jackson may see some higher snowfall accumulations with denser clouds and the colder temperatures but the snow showers will break down after the initial entry. Through the late morning and afternoon the line of snow showers will break-up and scatter across Wyoming leaving more isolated rain shower occurrences as it tracks east across the state. This event will bring a slight cool down for the Thanksgiving holiday. Temperatures will see an increase the following day to reach the highest this week above average temperatures this time of year.
