CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cowboys basketball team opened their regular season Monday, but they were without Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year Graham Ike who is sidelined for several weeks with a leg injury. However, it didn’t look like they were hurting without him against Colorado Christian.

The Pokes started off the game on an 8-0 run and never let up. UW was hot from the field all night; they shot 50.7% from the field as a team and nearly 38% from three point land. They also had six players score in double digits in the game.

Jeremiah Oden led the way with 17 in just 18 minutes on the floor. Supersenior Hunter Maldonado put together a nice statline as well; he had 13 points, seven assists and four steals.

It’s hard to ask for a much better start to the season for Wyoming, and they will look to build more momentum in Laradise on Thursday against Nicholls.
