CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Indians finished off their regular season at 6-3, and all three losses were nail biters against the top three ranked teams in the state. Those tight contests show that Central can compete with anyone, and the team is hungry to go out and make waves this postseason.

“We’re the only team that hasn’t been [champs] out of the top five. I feel like with us wanting to get there, us playing how we’re playing and keep on growing throughout the weeks, I feel like it’s going to be our shot,” junior wide receiver/linebacker Chase Talich said.

The first step in the journey to the top is another test against Thunder Basin, who have one of the top offenses in all of 4A. The teams played earlier this season, and Central prevailed by a score of 41-28. Coach Mike Apodaca saw a lot of positives come out of that meeting, but at the same time he knows how dangerous this Bolts team is.

“I learned a lot about our team’s resiliency and their ability to play for each other that game. I think that was really a stepping stool to some success we had later in the year. Thunder Basin’s an extremely talented team on both sides of the ball. They bring a lot of weapons to it, and you’re not going to stop them. You just got to slow them down and score more points at the end of it,” Apodaca said.

The #4 vs. #5 matchup kicks off Friday at 6 p.m.
