CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On Friday night Cheyenne East will travel to Sheridan for a massive showdown as the top two teams in 4A duke it out for the #1 ranking.

Coach Chad Goff said having some key players back on the field will only improve their red-hot offense.

“Having Drew [Jackson] back, he got some reps last week to see how he would do and he did great. And so having him back helps us, and those reps that Renton [Jensen] got adds that depth to the offense that you always want to have. So I feel good about the depth that’s been developed,” Goff said.

That added depth is icing on the cake for an offensive unit that’s put up nearly 50 points per game thus far, but Sheridan has been sound defensively as well; they’ve surrendered just 19 points per game.

The road environment shouldn’t be as much of a factor either for the Thunderbirds, considering the fact that they’ve already won three away games this season.

While there is certainly plenty of hype surrounding this game with two 5-0 records and a #1 ranking at stake, Coach Goff said his squad has done a great job of blocking out the noise and staying focused on the task at hand. He also shared some of the keys to the game to remain perfect on the season.

“Mistake-free football. Sheridan’s a good enough football club they’ll make you pay for your mistakes. We got to limit the YAC, we got to limit the yards after contact. We got to make sure we’re team tackling and rallying to the football, and then offensively we got to take what they give us,” Goff said

The game kicks off at 6 p.m. on Friday.
