Culver’s raises funds to help families after a tragic accident
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - In an effort to take care of one of their own, Culver’s is raising funds for a local 16-year-old boy that died in a tragic car crash.
Zane Bellis Oliver died on Sept. 4th, in the parking lot of a McDonald’s on Lincolnway.
According to Police, Bellis-Oliver lost control of his car, hit the curb at a high speed, and rolled the vehicle. He was ejected and died at the scene.
The other three passengers inside the vehicle were taken to the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Bellis-Oliver had recently started a new job at the Lincolnway Culver’s.
”We loved having him as part of the team so it was just a big shock when we found out and we definitely were all going to miss him and we want to do our part to try and help out with the families really where we can,” said Anthony Haack, Owner of Culver’s Lincolnway.
So to honor Bellis- Oliver’s life, Culver’s has started taking donations for all four families to cover funeral and medical costs.
“We’ve seen I feel like a pretty good turnout so far I mean, it’s a lot busier. It’s wonderful and I love that the people are coming in to support their community,” said Haack.
Culver’s is still taking donations online and in tip jars by the registers, and 10 percent of top-line sales are going towards the families.
”Customer response has been great its been nice seeing the social media outreach, you know, people sharing the post and really the expansion of the word has been really nice,” said Haack.
They have raised about $1,000 between the two restaurants as of Monday afternoon.
Donations for Zane Bellis-Oliver will go towards funeral costs scheduled for next Friday.
