CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Ryan Fornstrom and the Pine Bluffs Hornets have proven to be a tough team to beat, with a 61-0 win over guernsey-sunrise helping to solidify that case.

The game offered players like Fornstrom the chance to show their skill sets, while testing what they can do from the sideline as well.

“I think they let Dalton Schaefer, who got hurt last week, call one offensive play. I stood by my defensive coordinator because I call the plays on defense, and he had me call a couple and let me kinda just learn what he kinda goes through.”

Before he made his way to the sideline, he had a standout performance in the one quarter he did play.

Whether it was on offense or defense, he continuously ended up with the ball in his hands. You can attribute 3 touchdowns to Fornstrom alone, with a safety and two fumble recoveries on top of that.

Ryan’s made a point to highlight some of his goals this year, including one brought on by a friendly challenge between himself and the coaching staff.

“It was awesome because they ran the ball and tackles for loss are a bunch of points, so I got a couple of those. I made a bet with my coach that if I hit 70, he brings me breakfast and, after I got pulled out, he said ‘sorry, you don’t get breakfast.’ I guess I’ll have to get it a different week.”

This is Ryan’s first Prep Athlete of the Week nod, but was also mentioned as a Prep Athlete to Watch at the start of football season.

The Hornets will play their first home game of the year on 9/16, when they take on Wright.
