Wyoming Recovery works with local partners to celebrate Recovery Month
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - September is National Recovery Month. This year, Wyoming Recovery is partnering with the 12-24 Club to celebrate recovery.
One in three people are affected by addiction. In September, communities across the united states come together to raise awareness around addiction recovery and Casper is no exception.
“I want to bring everybody together. I want people in recovery to come together, I want people who support recovery, and family members, to come together, and I want professional organizations who support that concept to come together so we can all just be together working for one common goal: recovery,” said Wyoming Recovery Clinical Director Kristi Hann.
Addiction recovery groups from around Casper are working together to fight addiction locally. As fentanyl has become more present in communities around the country, recovery month has a renewed sense of urgency.
“Fentanyl has taken over a large aspect of our minds and our awareness with all the overdoses, the death, and the loss. I think this is really important because addiction is becoming so significant, I hope recovery becomes even more so,” said Hann.
Wyoming Recovery hopes that by raising awareness more people will seek help to recover and will know the resources available to them.
As part of the recovery month celebrations, Wyoming Recovery and the 12-24 club will be holding a Recovery Walk on September 24. The walk will go from the 12-24 Club through downtown Casper to Wyoming Recovery. After the walk speakers will share how recovering has impacted them.
