WYDOT offers highway safety tips after deadly I-80 crash
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Early Saturday morning, two trucks crashed on I-80, killing two and injuring another.
This crash occurred around 4:51am, when a Volvo truck was pulled over on the shoulder of the highway with it’s cab in the lane of travel, and a Freightliner truck collided with it. Both trucks were headed westbound. The force of the impact set both vehicles on fire.
WYDOT says that wearing a seatbelt is one crucial step in ensuring your safety, but there are other factors, including human behaviors.
Drunk, distracted, and drowsy driving are also major factors of a deadly crash.
If you are feeling drowsy or sleepy whilst driving, WYDOT says to find a safe area to pull off and rest, like a rest stop.
The two fatalities in Saturday’s crash were the 79th and 80th highway deaths in Wyoming so far this year.
