CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On Tuesday, Kelly Walsh senior volleyball player Peyton Carruth announced her commitment to the University of Wyoming volleyball program. She said that playing college volleyball has “always been the dream” and that Wyoming was “her number one school.”

“I’ve never felt more welcomed and wanted somewhere and my sister being down there just made it even better, and it was the easiest decision I’ve ever made,” said Carruth during an interview Wednesday afternoon inside the Kelly Walsh gym.

Peyton’s sister Corin is currently a junior on the Cowgirls’ volleyball squad.

The younger Carruth has played a pivotal role for the Trojans’ volleyball team the last couple of seasons. Her passion for the game is one of the most evident things any time she hits the floor.

“[Kelly Walsh head volleyball coach Jeff Barkell] has gotten me where I needed to be. When I was a freshman, I didn’t expect to go D1 and you don’t think as a Wyoming kid you’re gonna get to go big, but then when it happens and a lot of people are happy that I’m staying in Wyoming, and I think that’s what I’m most excited for is to be from Wyoming and get to represent what’s here and who taught me growing up.”

Carruth and the rest of the Kelly Walsh volleyball team will take on Laramie this Friday to open up the high school volleyball season.
