Brogan Allen, Ringside Sports team up to launch Sportsmanship Campaign
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Brogan Allen was not only the first Wyoming Gatorade Softball Player of the Year, but she found a way to do some good for the next wave of Wyoming athletes off the back of the award. Along with that award, Brogan received a “Play It Forward” Gatorade grant. That’s where ringside sports steps in.
Partnering with Brogan, Ringside Sports is helping launch a campaign to encourage good sportsmanship for the youth aimed to remind the community what sports are all about.
Kids were encouraged to participate in football, boxing, and volleyball drills, afterwards signing an oath to show sportsmanship in the sports they play. Around 1,000 kids were expected at the event today, as it ran in tandem with the back to school bash being held at the Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne.
Giving her grant to the campaign was an easy decision for Brogan, as the opportunity gave her the chance to follow in the footsteps of a family member.
“My grandpa used to do a thing when he taught at Central of giving back to the community and the kids that are less fortunate and needed like shoes or jackets for like the weather, or like whatever situation they were in.”
The campaign will continue all year long and will feature at the Southside Stampede next weekend.
