FCA hosts Athletics camp
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Thursday August 4, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes held the final day of their annual athletics camp at Natrona County High School that is hosted for kids from around the county. This was the second year that the camp was held and saw a drastic increase in campers from the previous year. The first year hosted 85 athletes but in 2022 the camp had almost 120 kids present.
The children who attend the camp are elementary school age and many of the counselors are high schoolers from local schools who are part of their local FCA chapters. Counselors minister to the kids at camp and also teach lessons along with different sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, etc.
Counselor Corbin Dow said, “For example in soccer we talked about, push through to the goal to get the prize. So in sports you have to push through the pain or the agony to get to the victory and that’s what you want to do in the fight for Christ.”
Kids in attendance were also excited to learn these sports and activities along with working with, and learning from their counselors. Sophia Kull was one of the kids in attendance and said, “I’ve been making new friendships and I’ve gotten to hang out with some of the friends that I don’t get to see very much.”
The FCA is hoping to be able to host the camp again next year at Natrona County High School where it has been held each year so far.
