CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - As parents of students in the Natrona County School District are getting prepared to send their kids back to classes the School District wants to remind folks that Back To School Nights are also coming up. These evenings are a way for students and parents to be able to meet teachers and make connections that can help them in the coming school year. For students entering Middle and High School they will also be able to receive their schedules for the upcoming year.

“Coaches are there, teachers are there, you get to meet people, you get to learn more about the school, and you really get to start building on those relationships and connections which are so important for the upcoming school year,” said Tanya Southerland, PIO for the Natrona County School District.

These opportunities are especially important to students in transitional years, which means they are moving on from elementary school to middle school or middle school to high school, because they most likely haven’t been to those schools previously and may not be familiar with the school or teachers.

Tanya says, “It’s a really good opportunity to get some of those first day jitters out of the way, meet teachers, get to know the environment and get excited for a great upcoming school year.”

Natrona County School District will not be requiring students to be vaccinated from the COVID-19 virus. They will also not be required to wear masks at school. They do have requirements for other vaccinations and immunizations though.

“So just working with your local health care provider, your pediatrician to make sure that you’re up to date on your back to school immunizations as required. The Natrona County School District does not require the COVID-19 vaccination for any student or staff member.” Said Tanya.
