CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On Thursday, July 28, Pro-life and pro-choice demonstrators came head to head on 2nd Street in front of Wellspring Health Clinic in Casper.

The clinic was one of six plaintiffs that recently received a temporary restraining order pausing the Wyoming abortion trigger ban.

“Crazy... Every Thursday you can guarantee it... Not like this I mean normally it’s quiet, but today like you said... It’s a madhouse,” said Nanci, a woman living next to Wellspring.

Wellspring was set to begin operating in June, but it has not yet opened after an act of arson in May. Regardless, demonstrators have and continue to utilize the area.

Pro-choice advocates spent the evening showing their support for the district court’s decision to pause the abortion ban.

“It’s not just about the temporary restraining order. We’re here to insist that the personal, physical, bodily autonomy of people with uteruses be respected,” said Pro-Choice Organizer Jane Ifland.

Pro-life advocates have demonstrated in front of the clinic every Thursday since April. They plan to continue protesting the clinic until abortion services are not offered in Casper.

“As long as there is any concern about the possibility of there being the opening of an abortion facility, we’re planning to be here,” said Pro-Life Organizer Bob Brechtel.

Additional arguments on the ban will be heard in August.
