Rock the Block announces final performance
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On Monday, Rock the Block announced online that Wednesday, July 20, will be their final event for the season.
After an unsure start for the summer music event, they were able to continue hosting concerts in front of Yellowstone Garage despite the business closing. But, the event is ending early due to costs being too high and an increase in other music events around Casper on the same day.
“We’re sad to not be able to keep it going, but that doesn’t mean it can’t continue on in the future, but at this point, we felt like we’re just digging a hole,” said Dynamic Sound and Lighting Owner Jeff Schafer.
According to Schafer, it costs over $5,000 to host each Rock the Block event. While many sponsors have stepped up to make the event happen, there was still not enough funding to cover all the expenses.
RTB organizers say they are thankful for the community’s support and are hopeful that they can come back in the future.
