CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - If you’ve been seeing the growing numbers of Monkey Pox splashed across headlines you are not alone.

As a precaution, states are starting to receive a small number of doses, as a precautionary measure.

Wyoming has received 42 doses of the Monkey Pox Jynneos vaccine.

The CDC is sending out these vaccines to states, for post-exposure use, to help prevent infections.

States will receive additional doses over the next few months, as a preemptive measure for high-risk individuals.

According to the CDC, as of Thursday, the total confirmed cases are 1,470 in the U.S.

“If they think they are exposed or think that they have some sort of rash that, especially a painful rash, a fever any sort of symptoms that match up with Monkey Pox, definitely see their healthcare provider and get that checked out. That is important,” said,” Clay Van Houten,

Wyoming has no reported cases currently.
