CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - After leading the charge for the Kelly Walsh girls basketball team last season, Logann Alvar will play in the Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star Games in Casper next weekend. The former Trojan will represent the North girls basketball squad on her future home floor at Casper College.

Alvar signed with the Lady T-Birds last December. She said she’s excited to “get after it with a new program” when she puts on the Casper College logo for the first time as one of the members of the team next season.

“They do such a good job of putting the best team out on the floor,” explained Alvar about what it meant to get after it. “They’re always in dogfights, [and] they’re always winning, so I’m just excited to be here.”

Before she officially joins the team at Casper College, she’ll have one last chance to represent her high school, Kelly Walsh at the WCA All-Star Games. Alvar is coming off a senior season where she averaged 13.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, which were both top 10 in 4A last season. Those numbers also led the Trojans.

“I’m so honored to have been selected. I am really just so excited to like meet all those new girls. I think that’s so fun, and I just can’t wait to get after it and hopefully get another win.”

She’ll band together with Natrona County’s Emma Patik and Tamryn Blom to try and bring home a victory in the showcase. Alvar said it would be “really cool” for the trio to win a game together.

“I know there’s a big rivalry with KW and NC, but it’s not like I hate those girls,” said Alvar with a smile. “They’re great players, so it’ll honestly be kind of fun to join forces to try to win instead of battling against each other.”

The girls’ basketball game will tip off at 3 p.m. inside the Swede Erickson Thunderbird Gym at Casper College on July 23.
