The Food Bank of Wyoming needs help
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - With inflation at a 40-year high, many families struggle to pay for the rising cost of basic needs while still keeping enough food on the table.
Because of this, more families are seeking food assistance to stretch their budgets.
The Food Bank of Wyoming is doing what it can to meet these needs but is also struggling.
They have seen a 52 percent drop in USDA food donations, which accounts for 23 percent of the food they give out.
There is also a reduction in regular donations from box stores and manufacturers since both have also been affected by supply chain issues.
So as the needs of the community go up, the food supply the food bank has to give has significantly dropped.
“It’s anywhere from a 50 percent increase in certain communities to 100 percent. Some of our partners that distribute food are seeing almost double the numbers of households that they are distributing to right now.”
The Food Bank of Wyoming says folks can help out by donating food or funds to their local food bank or the Food Bank of Wyoming,
