Driver is taken to hospital after running into Paradise Valley homes garage
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Fire and EMS received a call at 2:40 PM on Thursday July 14, to respond to an accident near the intersection of Robertson Road and Upper Aster where a truck had plowed through a fence and into a residence. Responders arrived to the scene just 2 minutes after they received the call and were able to remove the driver from the vehicle. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no residents were home at the time of the accident.
Public Information Officer Dane Andersen was one of the firefighters that responded to the scene and said this about the condition of the home, “I would consider the damage, from what our companies observed and what we observed on scene to be very significant. Obviously if there’s going to be any sort of vehicles colliding with a structure you expect to see some sort of significant damage. It does appear that this vehicle was travelling at some rate of speed to be able to leave the roadway, go through a fence, and then come to rest inside the structure.”
The vehicle entered through the back of the garage and destroyed the wall, windows, garage doors, and all of the owners belongings that were being kept on shelves that were attached to the back wall of the garage.
“It’s quite a shock. I had shelves and shelves and shelves with all my Christmas stuff and everything on this back wall, and he hit it and everything went with him. All to the front. It’s all out in the front driveway now,” said Julene, the owner of the home.
After the driver was removed from the vehicle he was put into an ambulance and rushed to the Wyoming Medical Center. Police have not yet released the condition of the driver or what caused the accident to happen.
“Of course the thoughts of Casper Fire and EMS are with all parties involved and we’re hoping for a swift recovery,” Said Dane Andersen.
