CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Cheyenne Police Department) - In the early hours of July 4th, the Cheyenne Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Taft Ave.
There, they found that a vigilante group called “Predator Poachers” had been posing online as an 11 year old girl, and communicating with a 19 year old man.
The man solicited sex from the group - who he believed was a young girl.
The group set up a sting meeting with the man, and then called the police.
Police later found that the man was also in possession of child pornography.
He was arrested for child pornography and soliciting to engage in illicit sexual relations.
The group “Predator Poachers”, credited with aiding in several arrests, is known for travelling across the country and going undercover
Authorities have not released the name of the man due to a state statute, since he is being charged with a sex crime.
Police say they have experience with these groups, and don’t have a problem with them. However, they can cause issues with the prosecution depending how the evidence was gathered, and how they acted.
We will update with more information as it comes available.
