Reproductive Rights Rally in front of the Capitol Building calls for Equality
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - “Our bodies our choice”... One of the slogans shouted by protesters gathering at the state Capitol calling for freedom of choice.
There was a Reproductive Rights Rally on the Wyoming Capitol steps Thursday evening.
As the group of over 100 protesters continued to swell in numbers throughout the evening. They carried signs touting slogans of freedom, choice, parity, and government over-reach.
Wyoming is now one of 13 states that have passed a trigger bill that will limit abortions in their states.
Groups that showed up included Wyoming’s Women’s March, Wyoming Equality, Wyoming citizens and diverse faith and advocacy groups.
“I’m here with people from all walks of life, standing up for reproductive rights for all Wyomingites,” said Rev. Hannah Roberts Villanave, Minister for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne. “We’re here were letting people know they’re not alone. We’re getting out the vote. We’re signing people up and we’re here to let the state of Wyoming know that we will not be silenced and we will not be quiet as our rights are taken away.”
This is one of several protests so far in Wyoming, including another earlier this week in Casper.
