Hot Springs Health welcomes new CEO

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The board of directors at Hot Springs Health has announced the appointment of Scott Alwin, PT, MHA, ACHE, CPXP, as the new Chief Executive Officer. He will start on July 1, 2022, and take over for outgoing CEO Margie Molitor, who’s retiring after six years with the hospital.

In this executive role, Alwin brings more than 20 years of healthcare, clinical, and administrative experience to the organization, and in his new role, will continue to introduce more stabilization, team building, and cost efficiency tactics to the job.

“This is an exciting time for everyone at HSH. After an exhaustive, nationwide search for a talented CEO for our growing organization, we’re very pleased to find that our most qualified candidate was in-house,” said Bill Williams DVM, Chairman of the Board.

He’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of HSH and the development and execution of the long-term vision and strategy of the organization. This includes initiating and demonstrating evidence-based practices and translating them into consistent and exceptional care across the hospital system. Alwin will report to a five-member board who are all leaders in the Thermopolis community.

Previously, Alwin was the Chief Clinical Officer for the hospital, a position he has held since late 2021. In this role, he directed the administration, planning, and coordination of all clinical services including Nursing Services, Cardiopulmonary, Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging, Pharmacy, Ambulatory, Surgical Services, Nutrition/Food Services, Care Coordination/Utilization Review, and Quality and Clinical Informatics.

“He’s had time to get to know the board and the board got to know him, and he had did some really great things in a short time, so the board felt very comfortable that he was the best choice,” said Molitor.

Before arriving at HSH, Alwin was the Director of Service Excellence at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Chief Ancillary Officer at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance Nebraska. He has deep experience and training in physical therapy; prior to his executive experience, he was the Rehab Director at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Colorado.

“One of the things that I’m looking forward to is the ability to to just lead with a great team. We have great people here at Hot Springs Health and I’m excited to work with them to get us to the future,” said Alwin.

Alwin received his Master of Science, in Health Services Administration from Regis University, his Master of Science, in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University, and his Bachelor of Science, in General Science from Fort Hays State University.
