Wet with a Cool Down
28 June 2022
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Temperatures are warm once again all across the Cowboy State getting into the upper 80s and lower 90s just the day before the next cold front is expected to push through. We saw a little bit of rain moving in from the western side of the state due to a trough that is ahead of the cold front. The increase in cloud cover in the stronger gusts will also start to bring down our feels like temperatures. By tomorrow morning, expect a cold front to already begin pushing its way into the Northwestern Side of the state which will begin to increase our rain chances going into the later part of the afternoon and evening. During the overnight hours on Wednesday, the front itself will stall out over top of the southern half of the state resulting in increased shower and storm chances throughout the day on Thursday. As early as tomorrow, the storm prediction center does have a marginal risk for severe weather for the north east.
This will bring some gusty winds, heavy rain, and even some small hail. Wind gusts across the region will pick up during this time getting over 35 mph in the same story goes for Thursday as well. This is enough to cause a few of those moderate delays along the major interstates and highways along side the thunderstorms. With the increase in clouds during the overnight hours tonight, expect temperatures to be on the warmer into the spectrum with upper 50s and lower 60s.
Because the front is moving in during the day tomorrow, the temperatures will be able to warm up into the 80s and 90s before the showers begin to cool us off. Rain chances remain relatively low for the northern half of the state as most of the rain and thunderstorm activity will be in effect for the southern half of the state. Either way, we could use the rain no matter how much we get.
