Cool and Clear Weekend
24 June 2022
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Temperatures warmed up to more seasonable conditions today across the state but then the cold front decided to push through and bring a lot more shower and thunderstorm activity to the region. This resulted in a few thunderstorms and even a couple severe storms along the northern side of the state. Luckily, most of the storms only brought some heavy rain and some small hail. The majority of the storms will begin pushing out going into the late overnight hours resulting in some cooler temperatures heading into our weekend. There is the chance for some very isolated sprinkles throughout the day tomorrow along the southern half of the state, but nothing more than that.
By Sunday, storms are remaining relatively scarce as the cool temperatures will continue. Wind gusts will remain strong with these thunderstorms getting up to 60 mph in some of the more severe storms. After that, they will remain relatively steady and be coming in from the north which will bring those cooler temperatures into the region. Travel delays and closures are very unlikely because of this.
Overnight tonight, expect temperatures to drop down below the seasonal level with a lot more 40s back into the region. Tomorrow’s high will be below average because of the cold front resulting in some upper 60s and lower 70s throughout much of the weekend. If you like the warm temperatures, don’t worry, as those 80s and 90s will be back in the forecast by early next week.
