CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Ford Wyoming Center is switching gears from the bucking bulls of the College National Finals Rodeo to a fandom fantasy land. This weekend Casper Comic Con is returning for the fourth year.

This year’s event will host vendors with comic books, toys, and a variety of pop culture memorabilia. An adult’s cosplay contest will be hosted at 4 p.m. on Saturday, and on Sunday at 3 p.m. there will be a kid’s contest.

Celebrity appearances will include Same de la Rosa, a DC Comics artist, C. Andrew Nelson, who is known for playing Darth Vader in a special re-release of the original Star Wars trilogy, and Alan Fernandes, who is the only living Tusken Raider from the original 1977 Star Wars.

Over the weekend, a variety of panels will be offered for attendees to watch. Topics include how to cosplay on a budget and how to invest in collectible items. Times for the panels have not been announced.

According to the FWC, the event is on track to be the largest Casper Comic Con yet.

“I just think there is a need for that even being in a rural remote location like Wyoming because we’re in the center of the state we will draw regionally as well Nebraska South Dakota North Dakota Montana Idaho,” said Ford Wyoming Center General Manager Brad Murphy.

Other attractions at the con will include laser tag, ax throwing, and Dungeons and Dragons. There will be two giveaways hosted by Reliant Federal Credit Union, featuring an Elijah Wood autographed photos of Frodo and a Pick Rick still signed by Dan Harmon.

Tickets for Casper Comic Con can be purchased online, on the phone, or at the SinclairTix Box Office at the Ford Wyoming Center.
