The city wants public comment on annexing county pockets
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - If you don’t like the condition of your roads or are still on a septic system within the city limits, you could be in a county pocket.
The City of Cheyenne council will have public comment at noon on Friday about county pocket annexation.
This happens when pockets of county land are surrounded by city property.
Cheyenne has 65 county pockets and this effect which first responders or water costs you are entitled to.
County water rates are 150 percent of a typical city water user. Officials say road conditions also differ from county to city standards.
”We will be reaching out to the residents and property owners to let them know when we are going to move forward. And they will all have an opportunity to comment because this. These will be adopted in the form of an ordinance,” said Charles Bloom, Director, Development And Planning City Of Cheyenne.
The city says it is looking to streamline these pockets into city property within the next year to 18 months at no cost to residents.
