CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - In early June, the Special Olympics of the Wyoming team traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the USA Games.

After a week of competitions, Team Wyoming returned with memories, medals, and new friends. Some, like Team Wyoming Powerlifter Ken Roy, even got the chance to be featured on ESPN while they competed.

“I didn’t know it at first till my coach told me I was blowing up ESPN 3, and I broke four personal records, and it was great,” said Roy.

The Special Olympic USA Games bring together more than 5,500 athletes and coaches from all 50 states and the Caribbean. The Wyoming team competed in a variety of events, including swimming, equestrian, softball, and powerlifting. In total the games feature 19 events that athletes can compete in.
