CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne Fire Rescue responded to a little duck emergency Tuesday morning near Kohl’s.

Seven little ducklings had become trapped in a storm drain, awaiting rescue.

Fire Rescue climbed down into the drain and rescued the ducklings, who were then put in a cardboard box.

But, this isn’t a rare call for the Cheyenne Fire Rescue.

They say they deal with up to 20 duckling rescue calls each year.

Once freed, the ducklings jumped back into another storm drain just feet away from the pervious one. Once again, the ducklings were rescued. But momma duck wasn’t happy.

Not wanting to leave the ducklings unattended, fire crews attempted to locate the mother duck, and reunite her and her babies. She flew onto the roof of Kohl’s, and then into the Garden Center of Lowe’s. After about 30 minutes, the momma duck was located and the ducklings were released safely out of the box. They then ran towards her, disappearing into nearby bushes.

The whole ordeal lasted around an hour, but in the end, the ducks reunited with their momma, injury free.
