CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Mrs. Laramie County 2022, Staci Balcaen, sat down during the Wyoming News Now 5:30 Weekend show to share her thoughts on competing in pageants as a Wyoming woman.

Balcaen said the Wyoming America pageant takes place on June 25 in Casper at Kelly Walsh High School. The pageant will be handing out three titles: the first title is Mrs. Wyoming American, the second title is Mrs. Wyoming America and the third title will be Miss Wyoming for America Strong.

“The individuals that compete in this pageant are married women and single women,” said Balcaen. “The single women could be divorced or single mothers, so that allows for a broader scale of women to compete in this pageant.”

Balcaen is an educator, and wants to use her experience to be an advocate.

“What I would like to do with that platform is to advocate for educational programs, not only in Cheyenne and Laramie County, but throughout the state of Wyoming,” said Balcaen.

Mrs. Laramie County 2022 shared that she believes other Wyomingites can relate to her.

“I believe that Wyoming can relate to me,” Balcaen said. “I was a single mother, I was that poor, broke college student, I am a teacher, I am a mother, I’m a wife and I want to represent Wyoming in the best way that she deserves to be represented.
