CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - With Laramie County Community College’s upcoming 2022 Hall of Fame class, many integral members of LCCC’s staff are receiving praise from a program that they helped improve.

Among those being honored is Joe Phelan, Who managed to provide a building block in both the physical education and athletics department for the golden eagles.

He was among the first full-time staff that the school had, joining in 1972 and staying for 37 years.

It was those initial 25 full-time teachers and administrators at the college that Phelan believes helped mold LCCC into what it is today, by creating a culture and being willing to help whenever it was needed.

“You really did kinda feel like ‘hey, this is our baby, let’s don’t mess it up, and let’s make sure people have a positive experience and then are able to move on wherever they want to go,’” said Phelan.

Mr. Phelan and the rest of the LCCC Hall of Famers will be honored in Late August.
