CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Friday marked the final night of performances at the College National Finals Rodeo before Saturday’s championship round. It was the final time for cowboys and cowgirls from across the country to try and crack the top 12 of their events and reach the final go.

Things don’t always go as planned, but Casper College’s Myles Carlson was able to stick to the script.

The Thunderbird cowboy secured his spot in Saturday’s short go with a 66 in bareback riding. It was not the kind of performance that he was hoping for, but it did put him in the top dozen heading into Saturday. He’ll enter the evening the sixth-best bareback rider in the country.

“It feels good,” said Carlson about making it to Saturday. “I really want to redeem myself tomorrow and put on a good ride tomorrow.”

The cowboy from Evanston will certainly have the Wyoming home crowd on his side entering Saturday’s festivities.
