CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - State pride will be on the line inside the Golden Dome at Sheridan College on Friday. The Wyoming-Montana Basketball All-Star Series returns to the Cowboy State and Big Sky Country this weekend.

The Montana boys lead the all-time series 63-27. This year’s Wyoming squad will feature quite a few kids from our Casper and Cheyenne viewing area:

•Tyler Pacheco, Kelly Walsh

•Davis Crilly, Kelly Walsh

•Cody Wright, Dubois

•Jordan Barrazza, St. Stephens

•Kade Preuit, Wheatland

For Pacheco and Crilly, there will be a lot of pride for them and their families heading into Friday’s matchup.

“It just kinda made me reflect on all the years that I spent in the gym,” said Pacheco on being selected to this year’s team. “My dad and my grandpa, who’s 87 years old, who didn’t miss one game this season, so I feel pretty proud that I could accomplish this goal, so he could come [to] watch one last game for high school.”

“One of my relatives passed away a long time ago, and it was one of their big dreams to see one of us play in this game and [the] same thing with my whole family,” said Crilly about his selection. “It was just a big dream for one of our family members to play in this game, and that I’m able to play in it, kind of represent my family, my school, and our community. It’s very awesome.”

The Montana girls also lead the all-time series over Wyoming 35-13. There will be even more girls from our Casper and Cheyenne viewing areas:

•Logann Alvar, Kelly Walsh

•Tamryn Blom, Natrona County

•Emma Patik, Natrona County

•Allison Olsen, Douglas

•Kierra Walsh, Cheyenne East

•Reece Halley, Torrington

The girls’ game will top off first in Sheridan on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The boys’ game will follow it at 7:30, and the two teams will meet for a rematch at Lockwood High School in Montana on Saturday.
