CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
It has been another day of great conditions. Winds are staying just slightly breezy today, just enough to get some of the air moving. Temperatures started cool and quickly warmed up with the direct sun exposure this morning and afternoon. Today’s the day to head outdoors, enjoy the clear and calm conditions, and maybe get some work done before the weekend.
Clear skies and calm winds will continue in these conditions through the rest of the evening and overnight hours. Early tomorrow morning will begin with clear skies, but changes are on the way! Cloud coverage will be working their way back into the Cowboy State. The cloud coverage will begin in the SW corner. The clouds will work their way through the central portion of the state and eventually reach the eastern half later in the afternoon. Once the clouds reach the eastern half, there will be an increase in rain showers. In a line, showers will move through eastern Wyoming. Showers will continued in a scattered pattern through tomorrow evening. Overnight, the showers will clear out and will leave behind partly cloudy skies into Saturday.
Along with the clouds and showers heading our way tomorrow, smoke is also returning into our forecast. There is a prescribed fire burning in New Mexico from yesterday. Firefighters in NM are continuing to keep it under control, but this does mean that the smoke is heading our direction. The smoke from New Mexico is travelling North through Colorado and into Wyoming. The SE corner of Wyoming will see some of the light smoke this afternoon. Light smoke will continue across the southern half of WY tonight. By tomorrow afternoon, heavier smoke will reach the SE corner. The smoke will lighten up some Friday night, but it will still cause some issues as it lightens up Friday night.
Temperatures have gotten warmer today compared to how they were yesterday. High temperatures today are ranging from the lower 70s to the mid 90s. Low temperatures tonight will range from the low 40s to the low to mid 60s. Tonight’s temperatures are going to feel very nice and mild. Tomorrow, there will see hot temperatures across the state. High temperatures tomorrow will range from the mid 70s to triple digits in the Nebraska panhandle.
