Cool and Windy
14 June 2022
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - We saw some big changes in our weather thanks to the strong cold front that pushed through last night. It brought some very strong winds from the west throughout the entire state today leading to a number of partial closures and delays on the major highways and interstates. On top of that, temperatures them self dropped off about 20 to 30° compared to this time yesterday. There were a few isolated showers and thunderstorms along the northern and eastern border of the state, but the strong winds are helping to push most of that as well as the cloud cover out of the state entirely. Over the next few days expect high-pressure to push in from the west resulting in clear skies and very low rain chances for the rest of the week.
The strong winds look to be dying down as early as tomorrow evening resulting in some very pleasant conditions over the next few days. Wind gusts are expected to get up to about 40 mph once again tomorrow which may still cause a few travel in packs. Once the wind dies down, temperatures will begin rapidly warming back up to the 90s and even triple digits by the end of the week.
Overnight tonight, expect those temperatures to be on the cooler side due to some of the clear skies. By tomorrow afternoon, high temperatures will already begin their warming train getting into the upper 70s and lower 80s for a number of cities and continue to rise throughout the week to above seasonable levels. The only change in the upcoming forecast looks to be here a strong frontal system expected to bring lots of rain and thunderstorms by the end of the weekend and going into early next week. This should help out to cool temperatures down a little bit, but also bring in some much needed moisture.
