CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - In a continued effort to revitalize the west edge, the City of Cheyenne is working to re-zone properties in the district.

Currently, the bulk of the area is zoned as industrial, but the city wants to make it mixed-use, meaning it can house commercial and residential properties.

City officials say this is in an effort to create residential development and revitalize the area.

”What we’re really trying to create is that urban area in the edge of downtown something where one can wake up in the morning and they can walk down the street and get their cup of coffee, maybe they walk a little bit further to their office thats the type of environment we are looking for,” said Charles Bloom Director of Planning and Development -City of Cheyenne.

The Public Service Committee’s second hearing for changing zoning classifications in the west edge district was held during the finance meeting. It moves to the City Council for a third and final reading next week.
