Casper Pride kicks off seventh annual celebration
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Across the country individuals and organizations are taking part in Pride Month celebrating and honoring LGBT communities.
On Wednesday, June 8, Casper Pride kicked off their own celebration with a screening of “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” at the Rialto Theater. June 9 marks the true start of the five days of events, with A Prismatic Affair at the Nicolaysen Art Museum.
Casper Pride has been hosting June celebrations in the Oil City for seven years. Organizers say this year will have more activities than ever before, including a new 5-k run, called Pride Run Casper, and a teen-only nightclub event at the Void.
“It just means the world to us, and to have the community support us the way that they have has just been life-changing. When we started we had five vendors and five sponsors and a guy with a guitar, you know,” said Casper Pride Chair Mallory Pollock.
Casper Pride will host events through Sunday, with a Pride March closing out festivities. For details on all the events, visit the Casper Pride Facebook page
